CHILDREN’S HARBOR CAMPUS
Provides
homes and a stable environment for children referred by the state of Florida’s
foster care system.
Currently home to several foster children, we are completing construction of this 13 acre development, which will eventually provide a safe, nurturing environment to more than 48 children and adolescents.
Each home is built as a duplex residence to house up to 12 foster children and 4 parents trained in foster care. There is a separate home for an on-site supervisory program director. Future plans include an Administration / Program Services building, a Recreation Center, and outdoor play areas for toddlers to teens. Children will attend local schools and participate in after school sports and other activities.
Our Independent Living Skills training program provides an “introduction
to life” curriculum for our teens as they approach 18 years of
age. Our caseworkers have been trained in Life Skills programming to
help our young adults understand what’s required in order for them
to be able to care for themselves in today’s world.
This building project is made possible in partnership with the City of Pembroke Pines, through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Community Development Block Grant, as well as the Florida State Housing Initiative Partnership Program.
Adjacent to a peaceful wildlife preserve, this is the ideal neighborhood
for children to live in any situation.
